The word Porsche has always been synonymous with Motor Sport; indeed, the RS designator on Porsche's greatest road cars comes from the German Renn Sport or Motor Sport....

You can discover the specification, details, driving impressions and more for every road-going Porsche car at PorscheArchive.

A fully researched directory of Porsche Suppliers and Resources is available at PorscheFile (one each for UK, US, Australia and Germany).

Race Licence

I'd like to move on from Track Days

Most areas of the world require you to hold some form of license before you can participate in competitive Motor Sport (whether it be racing, rallying, sprinting, hill climbing, time trials etc). In the UK, for example, you must hold a competition license form the governing body, the Motor Sports Association.

How do I get my licence?

In the UK, by way of example, you must:

  • Pass a medical
  • Complete a written test
  • Complete a driving test

The written and driving tests are collectively called the ARDS (Association of Racing Driver Schools) Test and can be taken at a number of UK circuits (for details, please check the PorscheFile entry for your territory (UK, US, Germany, Australia)and select the Motor Sport section. Prior to taking the test you need to purchase a pack from the MSA - this includes a DVD with all of the answers you will need to pass the written test (most of the questions relate to flag signals).

First Event

It is probably best to contact your national Porsche club for help with this next stage since circumstances vary so much in different geographies.
